TAOS, Inc. Receives Dallas 100 Award for
Second Consecutive Year
Company Ranking Accelerates from 89th to 29th Place as One of 2009’s Top 100 Fastest Growing, Private Companies in Dallas Metroplex
November 18, 2009 (Plano, TX) – Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions®, Inc. (TAOS; www.taosinc.com) today announced that – for the second consecutive year -- the company has received a Dallas 100™ Award as one of the top 100 fastest-growing, private companies in the Dallas Metroplex. Ranked 29th among the 2009 Dallas 100 companies, TAOS, Inc. has grown its business to advance 60 place rankings since the 2008 Dallas 100 companies were announced in November 2008.
“TAOS is indeed honored to be selected for a second consecutive year as one of the Dallas 100,” said Kirk Laney, TAOS President and Chief Executive Officer. “Being selected as one of the 2009 Dallas 100 winners certainly affirms that the company’s strategic focus to expand its light sensing solutions – especially those based on its ambient light sensing, proximity detection and color management technologies – into mainstream and ‘green’ markets for products such as HDTVs, netbooks, smartbooks, monitors and industrial/commercial lighting is gaining significant momentum.”
The Dallas 100 Awards are presented annually by the Southern Methodist University Cox Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship to the leading independent, privately-held companies headquartered in the Dallas area who have a three-year sales history reflecting growth, sales of more than $500,000 and less than $75,000,000 in fiscal 2006, and have a credit report and charter satisfactory to the Dallas 100. These top 2009 Dallas 100 companies combined to generate sales of $8.4 billion over the past three years, grew average sales 176 percent from 2006 to 2008, and grew number of employees from 14,764 in 2006 to 26,142 in 2008. The 2009 Dallas 100 winners were recognized at an awards ceremony at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, TX on November 4.
